Ordinarily Peculiar

I work with teenagers.

It’s difficult being a teenager.

I see the struggle constantly.

The desire to fit in.

The desire to stand out.

Is it any different as an adult?

I’ve heard two talks in the last week.

One saying that we are all peculiar, and that that should be celebrated. After all, it is our peculiarities that make us unique, and together we all fit together as a whole.

One saying that God works in us, and in our ordinary lives.

Seemingly contradictory and yet…

Why can’t we be both?

We are called to be in the world but not of the world. Maybe that’s what it means…

ordinarily peculiar

Celebrate them both
